I would have taken pictures... but I ate my Bahn mi so fast ! Absolutely delicious. I found the Workhorse Cafe through a search for Vietnamese food... Enter the Bahn mi. In standard VT fashion not a whole lot of spice but jalapenos and hot sauce took care of it. I left my entire bag on my 1st visit but was back the next morning for another sandwich and my bag. Only 25ish minutes from Chester I will hands down be back many many more times.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, welcoming vibe and the comforting smell of home-cooked breakfast wafting through the air. The staff are incredibly friendly and genuinely passionate about what they do—it really shows in both the service and the food. I had the iced coffee and was seriously impressed. Not only was it smooth and bold, but they use frozen coffee ice cubes—a genius move that keeps your drink cold without watering it down. It’s that kind of attention to detail that sets this place apart. The breakfast burrito was absolutely tremendous—stuffed with crispy bacon, perfectly cooked potatoes, eggs, melty cheese, and just the right touch of sour cream. It was hearty, flavorful, and seriously satisfying from the first bite to the last. But the real star of the breakfast menu? The Vermonter breakfast sandwich. Served on a warm, homemade roll and dressed with just the right touch of real Vermont maple syrup, it was pure heaven. The sweet-salty combo was unforgettable, and every bite felt like a love letter to Vermont mornings. The space itself is cozy and thoughtfully designed, making it a perfect spot to relax, catch up with a friend, or even get some work done. You can tell it's a place that values community, quality, and craft. If you're in the area heading to Stratton Mountain for a day of skiing, you'd be crazy not to stop here for breakfast first. Fuel up right—you won’t regret it.

This place is unbelievably fantastic. We get so excited every time we walk in. Absolutely our favorite spot in Stratton. Banh mi is superb, the Vermonter is our long time favorite (add the hash brown!!), and the Philly breakfast bowl is a decadent pile of delicious. It’s apparent that effort and time is put into every menu item. Always consistent, friendly and kind staff. An absolute must visit.

This place has amazing food. 3 star service is only because you order from the counter and the menu is a "chalk board" Atmosphere is super chill. Again did I mention the 5 stars for food?. Yeah it's that good.

Hands down one of the best sandwhiches I've ever had! Lovely staff, reasonably priced and amazing river views. Will be bringing several sandwhiches back home for the family!

Loved my breakfast from here. Easy to grab and go or sit down and enjoy your meal. Beautiful views off the back in the warmer months. Very kind and helpful staff. I enjoyed their ice cream sandwiches to go, drinks and more. 10/10

Nested along a cute little stream you will find Workhorse Cafe which will be serving some the best tasting breakfast sandwiches and breakfast bowls! The Portuguese rolls and local syrup make for a great tasting sandwich and the Josh bowl was full of rich flavors that mixed together perfectly. There is an outside seating area along the water that would be nice for the warmer months.

Awesome spot for sandwiches, especially after a good ski day at Stratton! Highly recommend the Pork Bahn Mi, it was dynamite! Looking forward to dining at this cozy little eatery again the next time I ski in the area!
